Special MHNA Climate Solutions Meeting Recap!

Hello Neighbors!

We hope everyone had a good holiday and is staying safe and healthy as we enter the new year.  In case you missed our November Murray Hill Meeting, please check out the quick recap below with links to more information from both of our outstanding speakers and ways to get involved with climate solutions.

Our first speaker was Taylor Ball, Program Manager with Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA).  Taylor coordinates MREA’s Grow Solar program which hosted last year’s Grow Solar Greater Milwaukee Group Buy.  She shared the exciting results of the 2021 program along with other ways residents can get involved with the solar movement in Milwaukee and across the Midwest.  Here are a few links to check out to learn more:

Our second speaker was Mike Jury, who is an active member of Citizen’s Climate Lobby (CCL).  CCL is an international organization focusing on reducing greenhouse gas emissions throughout the world.  Mike gave a brief overview of CCL and then presented on the carbon fee and dividend concept which would establish a carbon fee on fossil fuels as they are removed from the ground and returns that fee equally to all US residents.  His presentation (linked here) was inspiring and highlighted how we need action on the national level to effectively address climate change.  If you want to find a way to take action and get involved in promoting climate solutions, please consider the following:

  • Use the CCL tool to contact President Biden and your Senators to tell them to support a price on carbon in the Build Back Better bill.
  • Learn more about why Carbon Pricing is the key to solving climate change.
  • Join CCL!  CCL has 596 chapters, several of which are located in southeastern Wisconsin (Milwaukee, Wauwatosa, and Waukesha all have active chapters).
Thank you neighbors!
