October Meeting Summary

Neighbors,

Last week’s MHNA meeting was full of great information.  Here is a summary in case you weren’t able to make it.

  1. Elections: Mike Darnell is our newest board member. Welcome!  And thank you to John Bleidorn for his two years of service.  All other positions remain the same.
  2. Department of Neighborhood Services Inspector Kim Lyons gave us a presentation about their role in our neighborhoods. She encourages all of us to contact DNS for things like illegally parked vehicles, garbage carts, banners and large signage, upholstered furniture outside, occupancy issues, and much more.  Contact her at klyons@milwaukee.gov or call in concerns to 414-286-CITY.
  3. MPD District 1 Community Liaison Officer Thomas Kline reported on the MPD business for October. Burglary reports were way down and MPD has a culprit in custody.  Nuisance noise activity seems to be decreasing as well.
  4. We were introduced to our new 1st District Captain, Eric Moore. He started on Monday, October 26th as our new Captain, but he has been with MPD for 35+ years. He is a native Milwaukeean and has a good grasp of what we, as a neighborhood, are trying to accomplish.  We appreciate him being at our meeting his second day on the job and look forward to working with him.
  5. Next Meeting: Tuesday, January 26, 2016 — Enjoy the holiday season!
