Milwaukee Riverkeeper DIY Spring Cleanup

Despite the “official” Spring Cleanup being postponed (originally scheduled for tomorrow), Milwaukee Riverkeeper is still committed to ensuring our waterways are healthy. The DIY Spring Cleanup encourages neighbors to pick up trash while taking walks during the month of April – Earth Month! The trash in our neighborhoods will eventually make its way to the rivers via wind, gravity or rain, so every piece of trash counts. Volunteers will bring their own gloves and trash bags, and dispose of their own trash.

DATE & TIME: Earth Month (April) and beyond…
LOCATION: In your own community, close to home (wherever you’re spending time outside)

DESCRIPTION:
Spring has officially sprung and, if you’re spending time outside, you’ve surely noticed that litter has too! This April, during Earth Month, we’re hoping you’ll consider taking a bag or bucket and some gloves along on your next trip around the block to help pick up trash. It’s easy. It feels good. It’s safe. But more importantly, it makes a difference. Rainwater can move trash into storm drains that empty into streams, rivers and eventually Lake Michigan.
