Maryland Avenue Construction Begins July 10

TRAFFIC ALERT:

North Maryland Avenue Reconstruction Project
Begins Monday, July 10, 2017

The City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works (DPW) announces that North Maryland Avenue from North Prospect Avenue to East Newberry Boulevard will be reconstructed beginningMonday, July 10 into September 2017, weather permitting. This project will consist of asphalt resurfacing, cracking and sealing existing concrete, base patching, and joint and crack repair.  It will also include installing new concrete driveway approaches, bus pads, and some sidewalk and curb replacement. Due to the high volume of pedestrian traffic, concrete sidewalks, curbs, and driveway approaches will be completed on one side of North Maryland Avenue at a time.

Traffic Patterns:

Intersections will remain open to cross traffic except during asphalt paving operations. There will be one lane of traffic open in each direction on N. Maryland Ave. from the North Farwell Avenue/East Greenwich Avenue intersection to East Newberry Boulevard. Traffic will remain one-way northbound on N. Maryland Ave. between the N. Prospect Ave. and N. Farwell Ave./E. Greenwich Ave. intersection.

The Milwaukee County Transit System #30/30X bus route will remain on North Maryland Avenue.

Parking:

No on-street parking on North Maryland Avenue will be allowed during the construction project.

Parking Structure at 2311 North Prospect Avenue:

Whole Foods and Columbia/St. Mary’s Hospital driveway approaches will be done one approach at a time. Each driveway will be out of service for a day and a half.

Other Business Driveways:  Driveways will be out of service for three days.

Large Apartments Buildings: Driveways will be out of service for three days.

Residential Driveways: Driveway approaches will take 7-10 days to remove and replace.
