Have you ever lost your beloved pet? Have you found a stray dog or cat and wondered who to contact?

If so, chances are you may have connected with the Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission. Since 1999, the MADACC has been providing emergency rescue, temporary shelter, and veterinary care for thousands of stray and abandoned animals across Milwaukee County, often reuniting pet owners with their pets and finding new homes for stray animals.

Her leadership has been recognized with awards from the Milwaukee Public Policy Forum and Best Friends Animal Society for her collaborative, life‑saving work.

Before joining MADACC, Karen spent nearly seven years with the Elmbrook Humane Society. She is a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill, where she studied communication, journalism, and related programs.

City of Milwaukee Representatives Emily Smyth, Capital Paving Program Coordinator, and Michael Hutchinson, Sanitation Supervisor, with the Department of Public Works, provided overviews of their work and engaged in lively discussions regarding varied issues important to our residents.

Emily responded to many questions regarding sidewalk and alley replacement, street repaving, pot holes, traffic calming remedies and problems with same and took note of specific areas needing prompt review and attention.

Michael addressed problems with garbage and recycling procedures and facilities, snow and leaf removal, street sweeper issues and the upcoming Clean & Green program.

Both Emily and Michael referenced “Click4Action” as a good method to notify the City of ongoing issues. Learn more about Click4Action here.
