Call for Neighborhood Input on East Library Artwork
The Milwaukee Public Library is adding artworks to the interior of the new East Library and has commissioned Santiago Cucullu and Kathyrn E. Martinis. More specific descriptions and renderings of the proposed interior art designs can be found at: www.mpl.org/EastLibrary.
Santiago Cucullu proposes three murals of architectural views that represents the diversity and shared experiences of library patrons. Santiago has put out a call to neighbors to share their stories and images of significant life events that occurred near the East Library. These stories and images will then be used to inspire the architectural features of his artwork. Stories (not to exceed 500 words) and images may be posted to the Milwaukee Public Library “Be Part of the Art at East” Facebook Event Page, sent to publicart@milwaukee.gov or dropped off or mailed to the temporary East Branch location, 2430 N. Murray Avenue, Attention: Public Art. The deadline for submission is November 24th.
