Opera at UWM – Discount for Neighbors!
UWM’s Peck School of the Arts presents its annual Opera Theatre & Symphony Orchestra collaboration, Dido & Aeneas, Friday, April 1 and Saturday April 2 in the Helene Zelazo Center for the Performing Arts.
Shows each night begin at 7:30 p.m.
The story of Dido and Aeneas is one of the world’s most tragic love stories of two lovers torn apart by the gods. Dido and Aeneas fell deeply in love, but the gods called Aeneas away to Rome, and Dido was left heartbroken and alone. Dido writhes between fierce love and bitter anger. She has a fire built to burn Aeneas’ clothes and weapons he has left behind and even the bed they slept on. No one realizes that Dido is in fact planning something much bigger and more dangerous.
