Oakland & Locust Development Update Meeting

This message is from Alderman Nik Kovac.

I will be hosting a community meeting to discuss the updated plan for the proposed development at Oakland & Locust on Monday, September 25 at 6:30 p.m.

The meeting will take place in the Sheldon B. Lubar School of Business in room N146. Lubar Hall is located at 3202 N. Maryland Ave. on the UW-Milwaukee campus. Paid parking is available in the Lubar or Union Parking Garage.

On July 24th I hosted a neighborhood meeting at the Urban Ecology Center to discuss the proposed development described below:

The owner of 2900 N. Oakland Ave., Capri Oakland LLC, working with Klein Development, is proposing to demolish the current building located on the northeast corner of North Oakland Avenue and East Locust Street. They would rezone this parcel and the vacant parcel north of it (2914 N. Oakland Ave.) from Local Business (LB2) to a Detailed Planned Development to allow construction of a new, mixed-use building. The new building would be five stories in height and include approximately 55 dwelling units, as well as first floor retail space along North Oakland Avenue and indoor parking.

Many residents attended the July meeting and brought forward some recommendations and suggestions. It was determined that the developer would integrate some of these items and we would call another neighborhood meeting to revisit their proposal. They have indicated that they are ready to present their updated proposal to the community.

Your input is important and I look forward to seeing you there.

Sincerely,

Nik
