November Murray Hill Meeting – All About Climate Solutions!

Hello Neighbors!

Our November meeting is special in two ways. First, we are holding it one week earlier than normal to avoid a conflict with the Thanksgiving holiday. And second, in recognition of the international climate discussions wrapping up in Glasgow (COP26) we are bringing you a special, climate-focused meeting with two important ways that you can get involved in climate solutions at the local level.

Our first speaker will be Taylor Ball, Program Manager with Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA). Taylor coordinates MREA’s Grow Solar program which hosted this year’s Grow Solar Greater Milwaukee Group Buy. She will share the exciting results of this year’s program (just announced yesterday!) along with other ways residents can get involved with the solar movement in Milwaukee.

Our second speaker will be Mike Jury, who is an active member of Citizen’s Climate Lobby (CCL). CCL is an international organization focusing on reducing greenhouse gas emissions throughout the world. Mike is a retired environmental engineer, having worked for industry and governmental agencies on a variety of environmental issues. He joined CCL because it emphasizes professionalism, values and focus on the objective of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. CCL has 596 chapters, several of which are located in southeastern Wisconsin (Milwaukee, Wauwatosa, and Waukesha all have active chapters). Mike will give a brief overview of CCL and then will give a presentation on the proposed Energy Innovation and Climate Dividend Act which would establish a carbon fee on fossil fuels as they are removed from the ground and returns that fee equally to all US residents.
