Our Guest Speakers This Month:

Milwaukee Fire and Police Commission

Milwaukee Fire and Police Commission Community Outreach Coordinator Carlos Martinez-Rivera will provide a presentation about the commission’s history, current work and answer member questions.

About the Fire and Police Commission

The Milwaukee Board of Fire and Police Commission (FPC) was established in 1885 by state law and is one of the oldest police oversight agencies in the nation. The FPC was originally created to remove the fire and police services from the influences of politics.

The FPC oversees all aspects of Fire Department and Police Department operations and sets overall policy while the chief of each department manages daily operations and implements the FPC’s policy direction and goals.

The nine part-time civilian commissioners and full-time executive director are appointed by the mayor and approved by the Common Council. The commissioners serve as the citizens’ voice in police and fire matters and as a means of ensuring more responsive and effective city government.

Learn more about the FPC here.

Milwaukee Police Department Crime and Safety Report

Our Milwaukee Police Department Community Liaison Offer will also be on hand to provide a report on recent crime and safety issues affecting our community and answer your questions.

Virtual Meeting Option
If you are unable to join us in person, please feel free to join via Zoom by registering for the meeting here. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

We look forward to seeing everyone!
