Local Farmer Open House at Urban Ecology Center
It’s time to dream about fresh baby lettuce, juicy sweet corn, sweet melons and heirloom tomatoes.
And it’s almost time for the annual Local Farmer Open House – Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the Urban Ecology Center in Riverside Park.
This free event is a once-a-year opportunity to talk with local farmers and learn about their growing practices and their different Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) subscription options. Find the farm that’s right for you.
Learn how you can subscribe (purchase a share of the harvest) and conveniently get boxes of farm-fresh produce (and more) directly from your local CSA farmer.
Pick up tips at the Resource Table and be sure to attend one or more of the free workshops:
- CSA Basics (11:30 am) Learn how Community Supported Agriculture works (including Workplace CSAs).
- Cooking Demo (1:00pm) Using Farm Fresh Ingredients with John Raymond, Chef de Cuisine, Bartolotta’s Lake Park Bistro
- Cooking from your CSA Box (12:15 pm or 2:00 pm) Pick up recipes and tips on how to prepare quick healthy meals.
- CSA Q & A (2:30pm) Drop-in and ask any of your questions about CSA
Lunch will be available for purchase from Milwaukee Localicious
