Wisconsin’s Mysterious Mounds; Who was here before us?

Lake Park Pavilion Marcia Coles Community Room

Free and open to the public
Brought to you by Lake Park Friends with the cooperation of Milwaukee County Parks

Dr. Birmingham’s talk, “Wisconsin’s Mysterious Mounds – Who was Here Before Us?” will uncover the secrets of the mid-woodland (c. 300 b.c. to 400 a.d.) conical burial mounds of which Lake Park’s mound is the last remaining example in the city of Milwaukee. Bob will also address the later effigy mounds built in the image of birds, animals and even humans, found throughout southern Wisconsin. What do these earthen works tell us of the people who built them and their culture?”
