Important Parking Enforcement Information from Alderman Nik Kovac

City of Milwaukee Reinstating Parking Enforcement September 14 for All Posted Time Restrictions

Night parking restrictions remain suspended

Daytime permit applications now available online

On March 19, 2020, the City of Milwaukee suspended all timed, metered, day and night parking restrictions to accommodate residents who were home due to COVID-19 and businesses pausing operations. As businesses began reopening, the need for turnover in parking locations increased and on June 15, 2020, the City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works reinstated parking meter enforcement.

As college campuses resume in-person classes, parking will become more in-demand in certain areas. Therefore, DPW will resume parking enforcement on September 14, 2020 for all posted time restrictions.* Daytime parking permits will be required and vehicles cannot be parked beyond the allowable time at parking meters.

To allow the public time to get acclimated to resumed enforcement and acquire appropriate daytime permits, warning notifications have been placed on violating vehicles since September 3, 2020.

Night parking restrictions remain suspended and will be enforced at a later date to be determined.

Please note, the Milwaukee Police Department no longer issues daytime permits. If you meet the requirements and qualify for a daytime permit, they are now available online for purchase at milwaukee.gov/ParkingServices/ParkingPermits. They are also available at any of the City of Milwaukee Violation Bureau Payment Centers.
