General Membership Meeting: Tuesday, May 28 @ 7:00 PM
Dear Murray Hill Members:
This has been one weird year for securing speakers, and I must apologize for last month’s inability to get the word out that Senator Larson had to cancel at the last minute. However, I hope you can join us and our speaker this Tuesday, May 28th. at 7:00 PM at the Urban Ecology Center for our May General Membership Meeting. Our speaker is Bre McDonald from the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District who is a Project Manager for Planning, Research and Sustainability.
Bre will speak on MMSD’S Green Infrastructure Partnership Program which includes the Rain Barrel Program, and deals with rain gardens, pervious pavement and other methods being used to reduce the amount of rainwater flowing into our 100-year old plus combined sewer system. We will also learn the benefits of the current combined sewer system and how the Deep tunnel system is preventing more overflows into Lake Michigan. There might even be a Rain Barrel raffle.
So please come out and find out what you can do to reduce water pollution at the local level, and hear the latest developments by MHNA and the other neighborhood associations in collaboration with UWM on making the upper eastside a Clean, Quiet and Safe neighborhood.
