East Library Super Hero Kick Off program on Wed, May 20 at 6pm
Milwaukee Public Library’s Super Reader Summer Reading Program at a Glance:
Super Reader starts in Milwaukee on May 18th. East Library will have a Super Hero Kick Off program on Wed, May 20 at 6 pm.
- Children ages 0-12 can participate. Enroll at any Milwaukee Public Library location.
- Young adults ages 13-17 can participate in the teen “Put a Face on Your Book” summer reading program.
- Children can be read to or read on their own to participate.
- The program is free and does not require a library card. BUT a library card is needed to check out materials from the library.
- If you have a child in first grade or older, help them get a library card.
National research shows that children who read over the summer maintain or even improve their reading abilities and educational outcomes. Research also shows that children who DON’T read over the summer can lose up to three months of the reading skills learned during the school year. In addition to the benefit to reading skills, reading is an opportunity for families to spend time doing something together.
