The Downer Classic ISCorp Bike Races are coming to the neighborhood on Saturday June 29th from 10:30 am to 8:30 pm . These Pro Am bike races are part of the Tour of America’s Dairyland Cycling Series (See www.tourofamericasdairyland.com/schedule/milwaukee-description.php for specific information). International and local racers will provide hours of exciting racing along with other entertainment, kids activities, shopping, food and drink. Make the event a family day by signing up your kids for the St. Mark’s Kids Cycling “Sprints” scheduled at 6:00-6:30 (up to age 9; registration starts at noon) or the ‘Tweener’ races at 6:30- 7 pm (ages 10-12). Bring your lawn chairs and meet your neighbors. The start/finish lines will be at Downer Ave. and Belleview Pl.. The route travels along Downer, Bradford, Lake Drive and Park Place. Be aware there will be street closers along the route.
In support of the Downer Classic races and community events in the neighborhood, the Murray Hill Neighborhood Association sponsored a dasherboard and several primes (“race-within-a race; listen for the cowbell).
