I’m writing to reach out to those MHNA members who are also, like me, UWM employees. I’m writing to ask if you would join me in signing and forwarding a request to Student Affairs. As employees of UWM and home owners in the neighborhood around UWM, we are doubly invested in our institution. Thus, we have to ask the following question – why, when past and present District 1 captains of the Milwaukee Police Department have asked to speak to students at orientation have they been refused? If the MPD thinks speaking directly to students would be an effective tactic in curbing the problems in the neighborhoods, why not try it?

Our purpose in this letter is to formally ask that question, and also ask that several of us meet with a representative from Student Affairs to discuss the issue.
