Sharing this donation opportunity from UWM
Please see the request below from our Center for Community-Based Learning, Leadership, and Research, Military and Veterans Resource Center, and Team Rubicon.
Are you looking for a way to support newly arrived Afghans to Wisconsin at Fort McCoy? The Center for Community-Based Learning, Leadership, and Research (CCBLLR) is partnering with the Military and Veterans Resource Center (MAVRC) and Team Rubicon to collect needed items for what they expect to be over 11,000 adults and children who are arriving with only the clothes on their back. Team Rubicon is a nonprofit organization that specializes in disaster response by mobilizing veterans to help people prepare, respond and recover from disasters and crises. The items that are currently needed are BRAND NEW, AUTUMN clothing items such as long sleeve t-shirts, pants, socks, underwear, duffel bags, and shoes. All donations must be in their original packaging. The Panther Response Team (PRT) is also accepting donations of Target gift cards that will be used to purchase high-demand items for those that do not want to shop. Donations are needed as soon as possible, as we hope to do an initial drop-off by the last week of September so please bring any donations to the CCBLLR office (Union G28) by Tuesday Sept 21th. Direct questions to Zack Garrity at zgarrity@uwm.edu or 414-229-3161.
