16th Annual East Side Summer Soulstice Music Festival

Summer Solstice Festival

From the North Avenue Business District….

Dear Neighbor,

I am very pleased to provide you with information regarding the 16th Annual East Side Summer Soulstice Music Saturday, June 25th from noon to midnight. The event is being sponsored by the East Side Business Improvement District and will feature live music on three stages, food, arts/crafts, kids activities, and fun for all.

As you may know, the East North Ave. commercial property owners initiated a revitalization project in 2000. Much of the improvements included new lighting, trees, decorative intersections, public art, a new bike ramp connection to the Oak Leaf Trail, and planters decorating the area. The Summer Soulstice Music Festival is a fundraiser for the BID to raise money to help with the maintenance and upkeep of the above items and to promote the neighborhood.

E. North Ave. will be blocked off to thru traffic between N. Oakland Ave. and N. Farwell Ave and from Farwell Ave. to Prospect Ave. N. Farwell will remain open for traffic. Also, the block of N. Murray between E. Thomas and E. North Aves will be closed as well. North-south and east-west traffic will be able to travel around the event on N. Farwell, N. Prospect, E. Thomas Ave., and E. Kenilworth. All public meters and parking areas on E. North Ave. and N. Murray Ave. will be bagged and no parking will be allowed during the event. E. North Ave. will be closed from 8:00 AM to 3:00 AM to allow for set-up and clean up.

We have worked extensively with representatives from the Department of Public Works and the Milwaukee Police Department to assure that this event will be a success without any major inconvenience to you and your neighbors. The BID has also contracted with a private security firm and trash maintenance company to keep things clean and safe for the event.

The East Side BID and its members hope you can come down and enjoy the event. For more information and our exciting schedule of events, please visit us at www.TheEastSide.org If you have any problems during the event related to noise, you may call the Dept. of Neighborhood Services at 286-3280.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, including the day of the event, please feel free to call me at 916-8975 (cell) or 272-5823 at the office. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Sincerely,
Jim Plaisted, Executive Director
