Huan Xi Liquor License Meeting

Neighbors,

Please review the meeting announcement below from Alderman Kovac and try to attend if your schedule permits.

By way of brief background, MHNA has been working with other East Side neighborhood groups to address the overconcentration of bars on North Avenue, promoting instead a commercial corridor with a diversity of restaurants and shops.

MHNA is on record in opposition to the request for a new liquor license because it appears to represent a change from a restaurant into a bar.

We welcome all neighbors to come out and hear more about this proposal from the owner of the establishment.

Huan Xi is a licensed, operating restaurant located at 2428 N. Murray Avenue. They currently have a Class B Beer, Class C Wine and Food Dealer Restaurant license. This allows them to serve only beer and wine at their establishment. At present, they are open 7 days a week from 11am to 10pm.

The restaurant is expanding within the building where they are currently operating. In addition, the owner of the restaurant recently applied for a Class B Tavern license, which would allow them to serve hard alcohol, as well as an extension of hours.

I am hosting a neighborhood meeting at Huan Xi, 2430 N Murray Avenue, on May 23rd at 6pm. The applicant and owner of the restaurant, Jun Yang, will be present at the meeting to discuss the proposed changes to his current plan of operation.

You are invited to hear the proposal, provide feedback and ask questions.

Your input is important, and I look forward to seeing you there.

Sincerely,
Nik Kovac
Alderman, 3rd District
